A wonderful thriller with plenty of twists in the story to keep you interested. In spite of only having three actors in this piece, The Disappearance of Alice Creed boasts an intriguing storyline that continues to keep you interested as information and developments occur.
TDAC is about two men who kidnap an heiress in the interest of getting millions of British pounds through ransom. Vic (Eddie Marsan) and Danny (Martin Compston) create what appears to be a very well throughout plan t kidnap Alice (Gemma Arterton) and house her in a specially modified apartment. And while that plan initially goes well, things become twisted as the story progresses.
While most of the action is filmed inside the empty and dreary apartment, it adds to the feeling of isolation that all of the characters are experiencing. In many ways, each of the three are looking for acceptance and love, a theme that becomes more important as the film progresses.
I was pleasantly shocked by how good this film was and would encourage you to try it, especially if you enjoy a good thriller such as Buried or Dog Day Afternoon.
This was a first-time film from writer/director J. Blakeson. I look forward to his next work, especially if its on-par with this effort.
