What would you do if your wife gets sent to jail on murder charges which she denies? Ok, and what if you were a mild-mannered professor? And although your wife has a hint of a harder edge, and the evidence is overwhelmingly against her – yet you know in your bones she didn’t do it? Why, you would brave past your lack of experience and hatch a plan to break her out! The Next Three days takes you through that process and the great action of the jailbreak attempt. All along you have a nagging feeling that he might be wrong about his wife’s innocence, which serves to elevate the regular suspense of staying ahead of cops and bad-guys.
Russell Crowe is in a straight forward role that highlights his strengths as a manly get-it-done fellow. Elizabeth Banks is only mildly believable as someone who has been in jail 3 years, but nevertheless a solid performance. Liam Neeson – perfect for the hardened and experienced jail-break dude, but a really short part. And, an even shorter part from the old standby Brian Dennehy – too bad.
The movie was on par for a good crime drama. The only format I had a hard time with was skipping past the “why did they jail her†– which you understood, but never experienced. More was revealed much later in the movie, which made for a good ending.

Happy you liked this Bri. It kind of flew under the radar when it came out.
